Pippas of Aanyedoo Parenting Workshop: Raising blessed and successful children

“We have come to the end of the workshop, thank you all for attending. Does anyone have any questions?”

There was dead silence.

She repeated herself: “Any questions?”

The silence persisted until one of the parents remarked that we were reflecting on everything we had just heard.

The wisdom we received that day was so deep and worthy of reflection. There was no need for Aunty Naa (that’s how the kids and myself address her) to ask us to make any reflections. We all sat there stunned, reflecting and mentally marking ourselves. Personally, I was assessing what I do and identifying the necessary changes that had to be made to raise these little treasures in a Godly way considering the very loud environment we find ourselves in.

The investment paid for this workshop does not equate the life time values we obtained as parents that day. Like the lizard that jumped down from the high iroko tree, I pat myself for being an intentional parent by the grace of God but I left the workshop humbled. I left that day knowing that there was still work to do considering the direction the world is heading towards.

My key takeaways

This transformative experience left me eager to share some of the key highlights with you. While I can’t reveal everything and even attempting to do so won’t have the same impact as a physical attendance would, I can assure you that this workshop is an absolute game-changer for parents seeking to raise their kids in a Godly home.

  • You cannot do parenting without prayer.
  • The framework of a Godly home has Christ as the foundation, the Father as the roof, the Mother as the beam and the child(ren) as the windows. Children are the windows because they reflect what they know at home, outside and vice versa.
  • God has appointed us and given us authority to raise the kids we have. We are also accountable to Him.
  • As parents, we are influence peddlers and not control freaks. To be a proactive parent, it would require 80% influence and 20% control.
  • Rules should be put in place for our kids before any event. For instance do not buy a tablet when there are no rules on screentime. It is much easier to have the rule in place and working before getting them a tablet.
  • Teaching our kids the principles of life is the best legacy we can leave for them. Using the Bible to do this is very relevant.

Aside the workshop being hands-on and interactive, a room was set up for the kids to enable parents who were unable to arrange alternate care for the kids attend. Aunty Naa is the founder of Reading Rocks and Aanyedoo so you are rest assured that your kids are in good hands. She is the author of a number of books for kids and runs a reading initiative for kids too. Do you remember the kids magazine- Kozzie the explorer? Yes she is the one behind it.

Item 13 was also provided; natural juice from Just Juice and there was a variety of foods for participants to choose from. We also had stationery from Sammies Ministry.

Questions for thoughtful reflection

  1. Are you building a Godly home?
  2. What impressions of your home does the behavior of your children reflect to the outside world?
  3. What have you added to your child’s talent?
  4. What do you want your family to be known for?
  5. Do you have a family vision?

Will you be registering for the next event? I hope to meet you at the next workshop. Connect with her and subscribe to her mailing list to keep yourself updated of future workshops.

Lots of love,
