Vengeance is for the Lord

Genesis 4:15
But the Lord said to him, “Not so; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no-one who found him would kill him.
How quick we are to judge others and punish them for wrongs committed which have impacted either directly or indirectly on us. With the great sin committed by Cain, God was still merciful on him and in a twist of fate, would rather punish anyone who laid a hand on Cain. A human mind would be thinking, “What is wrong with God?”. God has his reasons we just have to learn to trust in Him and his timelines. His ways are not our ways.
Irrespective of what we face in life, we shouldn’t be quick to exact or pronounce punishments on wrongdoers. Our task is to love and show mercy, God will handle the rest.
Let’s pray for the strength of character both physically and spiritually to help us achieve this.
Amen.
Other thoughts my curious mind picked up
In the same chapter verse 17, mention is made of Cain’s wife. Who was she? Where did she come from? As we all know there was just Adam and Eve and their kids. My curious mind decided to check out google. All information I came across seemed to suggest that Cain might have married his sister as during that time there were no laws prohibiting incest.
